The original and best professional macOS and iOS network scanner
Remote Scans via iCloud
See what another copy of IP Scanner is finding on its own network, right from your Apple Watch or iPhone. If IP Scanner is running on your Mac at home and you are out with your iPhone, the Mac publishes its results to your private iCloud, and your iPhone reads them instantly. Monitor your home or office network from anywhere.
Works across Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. Your data never leaves your private iCloud - nothing reaches an IP Scanner server or any third party. Available exclusively in IP Scanner Ultra.
See your network's history at a glance
IP Scanner keeps a rolling timeline of everything that happens on your network and shows it as a density ribbon: each bar is an hour of recorded changes, or a day when you're looking further back. Taller bars mean more happened; brighter bars mean more of that activity was devices actually arriving or leaving, while dimmer bars are mostly quieter renames, address changes and service updates.
Hatched sections mark stretches when IP Scanner wasn't monitoring, so anything that happened then went unrecorded. A flat, filled bar means the opposite: it was watching, and nothing changed. Point at any bar to read exactly what it recorded, down to the number of changes and how many were arrivals or departures.
IP Scanner scans your local area network to determine the identity of all machines and internet devices on the LAN. Powerful results, yet easy and intuitive to use.
Key features:
• Extremely fast scan results
• Customizable results, assign your own names and icons to discovered devices
• Save and consult past scans

• Option to open a device in browser, VNC or other applications

• Sort network list by device name, IP address, MAC address or Last Seen

Whether you’re a casual home user or a network professional, IP Scanner is all about customizing the way you view and analyze your network. You may apply custom names and icons to the devices on your network and adjust the type and amount of information you see in the network overview; don't need to see the MAC address column... don't display it! Text too small... make it larger! We also include a whitelist feature that lets you filter out known and trusted devices to reveal new or unexpected ones, a great way to easily identify unwanted network visitors.
IP Scanner can be used in a variety of modes, including:
• A quick overview of which devices are currently on the network, and remotely via the Apple Watch companion app.
• A “cumulative mode” that shows network changes over time, including options to display devices which were previously present but now no longer visible.
• Schedule automatic snapshots of the network state at regular intervals; save results locally or to the cloud.

Know what's on your network, even when you're not home
IP Scanner Ultra turns a great network scanner into something more: an always-on awareness layer for your home or office Wi-Fi. Leave it running on your Mac, and it works with your iPhone and Apple Watch to keep you informed.
Real-time alerts. Get a push notification the moment a device connects to or disconnects from your network. A phone that used to connect to your home Wi-Fi reappears while you're at work. A laptop that should no longer have access to your office network shows up at 2am. You'll know.
Network DVR. Scrub back through your network's history, hour by hour, day by day. See which devices were present last Tuesday at midnight, or whether an unfamiliar device connected while you were on vacation.
Daily briefing. A morning notification summarizing everything that changed on your network in the last 24 hours, with unusual overnight activity highlighted so you don't have to go looking for it.

Continuous scanning, and MAC addresses on every platform
Meet IP Broadcaster, our free macOS companion. It puts your LAN and WAN IP in the menu bar, and it gathers your Mac's MAC address tables to share them with your IP Scanner clients on iPhone, iPad, visionOS and watchOS, where Apple's privacy restrictions otherwise prevent any app from reading them. It also runs headless as the data provider behind Remote Scans, so you can monitor your network from anywhere without leaving IP Scanner open.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best network scanner for Mac and iPhone?
IP Scanner is the original professional network scanner built natively for Apple devices. It discovers and identifies every device on your WiFi/LAN in seconds and adds pro tools - Port Scan, Wake-on-LAN, Bonjour service discovery and IPv6 - while keeping scanning fully local and private, with no account required.
How is IP Scanner different from Fing?
IP Scanner is a native Apple-first app for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple Watch that scans locally and requires no account or cloud sign-up. IP Scanner Ultra is a one-time purchase with no ads or subscription, and includes Port Scan, Wake-on-LAN and IPv6 for power users.
Does IP Scanner require an account or subscription?
No. IP Scanner is free and IP Scanner Ultra is a one-time purchase. There is no account, no cloud requirement and no ads - scanning happens locally on your device.
Does IP Scanner do port scanning and Wake-on-LAN?
Yes. IP Scanner Ultra includes Port Scan, Wake-on-LAN, Ping, Bonjour/service discovery and IPv6 support - well beyond basic device discovery.
Does IP Scanner support Apple Vision Pro?
Yes. IP Scanner Ultra runs natively on visionOS, so you can browse your network map and device details in Apple Vision Pro. The free IP Scanner and IP Broadcaster do not currently support visionOS.
What is a remote scan in IP Scanner?
A remote scan lets you see what another copy of IP Scanner is finding on its own network. If IP Scanner is running on your Mac at home and you're out with your iPhone, the Mac publishes its results to your private iCloud, and your iPhone can read them. It is not a way to scan a network you aren't connected to - it's a way to view what a device that is on that network has already found.
What notifications will I get on my iPhone from IP Scanner?
From any Mac running IP Scanner and signed into your Apple ID, with push notifications enabled. You'll be notified when a new device joins the network, when a device stops responding, when a Wake On LAN packet is sent, when a watched device reappears, and when a network report is ready. Each notification names the specific device and which Mac saw it. Push notifications are off by default.
Is my network data sent anywhere by IP Scanner?
No. Everything goes through your own private iCloud database, visible only to devices signed into your Apple ID. Nothing reaches an IP Scanner server or any third party. The remote scans and push notification features do nothing at all until you turn them on.
