Hi,

Was wondering how long it take IP Scanner to find new and removed IPs when a devce is turned on/off. I was trying to debug my home network when a vista comp was hit with internet connection troubles after a botched installation. After it was fixed, the same machine with the same MAC address would appear twice with 2 different ip addresses.

Furthermore, after having shut down the offending vista machine for about 5-10 minutes, then turned it back on, it just would not show up at all, even after a 10 min wait.

Is there a way to force an ip detection update or is the information taken frm somewhere?

thx

Some of IP Scanner's network probes use a large amount of bandwidth and those routines are run less frequently. However, stopping and restarting the scan should restart all probes.

If you are getting 'false positives' you can also turn off the 'hidden devices' option. This option relates to the use of address resolution information, which is often cached by OS X for periods of time (even after the device is no longer on the network).
