IP Broadcaster

Your IP addresses in the menu bar. And on macOS 27: the free helper app that keeps MAC addresses flowing to IP Scanner and IP Scanner Ultra.

New in macOS 27

macOS 27 blocks MAC address access for App Store apps. IP Broadcaster is the workaround.

MAC addresses are the most reliable way to identify the devices on your network: unlike IP numbers, they are unique to each device. Starting with macOS 27, Apple blocks apps distributed through the App Store from reading the system's MAC address tables, so network scanners from the App Store can no longer look up this data on their own. Direct-download apps are not affected; here is the macOS 27 ARP change, explained.

IP Broadcaster fills the gap. Because it is distributed directly from this site rather than through the App Store, it retains full access to your Mac's MAC address tables, and it now shares those tables directly with your IP Scanner and IP Scanner Ultra clients. Run it on any Mac on your network and your scanners keep working exactly as before, complete with MAC addresses and manufacturer identification, on macOS, iOS and visionOS.

The sharing is automatic and instant: IP Broadcaster publishes the current MAC address cache both over your local network and via iCloud, tagged to your Wi-Fi network so each of your networks keeps its own set. IP Scanner clients pick up updates the moment they are published. You stay in control: choose how often IP Broadcaster refreshes and shares the tables, or turn sharing off entirely.

The app is free and extremely lightweight: it lives in the menu bar, launches at login, and just quietly does its job.

Download IP Broadcaster and give it a try.

IP Broadcaster

Easy access to your IP addresses

IP Broadcaster displays your local (LAN) and internet (WAN) IP numbers in the menubar, with options to update these values at user-specified intervals.

In addition, IP Broadcaster functions as a data provider for our flagship network scanner, IP Scanner: it gathers the MAC addresses of currently active devices and supplies them directly to IP Scanner and IP Scanner Ultra clients. On macOS 27, where App Store apps can no longer read MAC address tables themselves, this makes IP Broadcaster the bridge that keeps device identification working. The same data also reaches the iOS, visionOS and watchOS versions of IP Scanner, which have never had native MAC address access due to platform privacy restrictions. Sharing happens automatically, both over the local network and via iCloud, at an interval you choose.

By default, IP Broadcaster will associate the gathered data with the current active wifi network, but if the the host machine is not using wifi to connect to the network, the user may select which wifi SSID to associate the data with.
