For us (and many folks) the 2.x series is rock solid, but alas, there is apparently a bug which can lead to a crash that occurs under certain network circumstances. Since we are completely unable to reproduce this crash in our lab (and believe me we've tried), any info is appreciated. Can you tell us a little more about the circumstances? How large is your network? Did it crash on launch? are you running leopard or tiger?

Hi,
I had the same unespected quit…
I've only two Macs on network: one G5 with 10.4 and one G4 with 10.3 with a direct connection via ethernet cable.
The G5 is also connnected to an Airport Express (my access point to web) and share its internet connection to a G4.
The problem is that it worked the first time I used IPScanner, and it didn't work every other time, both the 2.1 and 2.0 versions.
thanks,

Ever since 1.7 I cannot get IP Scanner to work.
2.1 unexpectedly quits as well.
1.7.3 PIGS the processor to nearly 100% across all four processors.
How Can I help you figure this out?

The latest IP Scanner version 2.3 fixes a number of race condition bugs – the kind that lead to crashes such as these reports indicate. Download it now!

I haven't seen it mentioned here, but removing the Growl.prefpane from
the preference
panes in the library seems to solve the "unexpected" quit problem, at least on my older
Mac running 10.4.11
