Hello,

I have always used IP scanner under Tiger where it worked like a charm. Now in the same environment, but after a system upgrade on my PB G4, IP Scanner 2.14 will complain

No local hosts found – nothing to scan !

I am certain that the upgrade Tiger -> Leopard has changed the network setting, however, I do not know in what regard. Browser, email, AngryScanner etc work however fine.

Can anyone offer advice on what I should do?

Jojo

I believe this is fixed in the latest update – there was indeed a bug that corrupted the localhost discovery under certain circumstances…

sorry Admin,

I have to correct my post. In fact, I realized that is not shown any ip address because the software remains in scanning status, whitout stopping, as in a loop.

it is normal that the scanner keep scanning, because new devices may appear after you launch it. If it is not displaying any results there is some other issue. Can you try the latest beta and see if the problem persists?

Thanks Admin, I try to explain. Virtually ipscanner remains in
scan indefinitely, even for an hour, does not respond with
stop button, so you can not see any equipment
in the list. I've tried also with the beta version.

OK – we understand. If the stop button never appears then something is hanging in the process, as you say. Are you able to launch the 'console' app (which should be in your Utilities folder)? If so, please copy/paste some recent entries after running IP Scanner. It should list some errors that may help us determine why your copy is failing on your computer.

I apologize for my ignorance, can you explain step by step
what should I do from the console? I have to run some commands as
ipscanner works? Thanks! Smile

sure. go to your Utilities folder and find the application called 'console.app' (note: this is not the same thing as the terminal app). When you launch it, it displays messages that different applications have left behind – please see this screenshot: http://10base-t.com/console.png. Some of these should be from IP Scanner. If you can copy/paste the last 20 or so messages that have to do with IP Scanner, and post them to us, that would be very helpful.

I see only 7 devices, but I think due to the fact that it is
a beta version. I tried to activate the sw with my registered user key, but I believe that the beta can't be registered :-)

yes, the app store version cannot be registered with a key, only by purchasing the full version from app store. To use your key, you'll need to download the app directly from us (the good news is that the version from us is always newer and current!). Here is the direct link: http://10base-t.com/downloads/…..latest.zip

Same problem, even with the latest versions. The icon of the dock indicates a number of devices but nothing in the main windows.

I try with trashing all preferences and cache files without success.

The Console indicates, loop, the following line "17/10/11 16:49:46,055 IP Scanner *** -[NSDictionary initWithObjects:forKeys:]: count of objects (0) differs from count of keys (1)"

Until now, no update does not solve this.

Regards,

Eric
