We have a network with 5 or 6 workstations running DropCopy 1.4.7 . It works on all Macs except mine. Mine is running OS X 10.4.9 (like the others), and is a Dual 1.8 GHz G5 PowerMac. 4GB RAM and from 2 to 30 GBs of free disk space (files are coming and going all the time).

When I double-click DropCopy, I get the icon zoom, but nothing else. DropCopy does not appear in the dock or show up in Force Quit. DropCopy does not hang or generate a crash dialog or anything.

I have tried disabling extensions, and creating a new user with no other third party extensions. Still DropCopy will not launch.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Delete the DropCopy prefs file for your user (but it sounds like you 'did' that as you used a new user). Next try this (sounds silly but seemed to work for me on my iMac) Right click on the DropCopy.app and select Open. This gave me the same 'animation' of double click and then took a bit (about 15 or more seconds) but it did then launch and I was able to configure it and it did not happen again.

Hope this helps.

BTW. this happened on an iMac 20" with 10.5.3 so it seems to be more than an OS 'thing'.

Thanks for the suggestions Peter, but the right-click thing did not help me, and as you say, trying DropCopy in a new User should be the same as deleting preferences (although I tried that also). What did finally solve this problem was upgrading to 10.4.11. Go figure.
