Hi, I’ve also used DropCopy for years, and only one Mac, a 15” MacBook Pro just prior to the unibody model, is flaking out. When I restart the Mac or quit and restart DropCopy it recognizes all the other currently running machines with DropCopy, but only for awhile. Then it shows no other destinations, and “Rescan for Destinations” does no good. My iPhone DropCopy is happy, as is the Touch, the other more recent MacBook Pro is happy, and the iMac is happy. I’ve reinstalled it a few times, and looked for but couldn’t find any preference files to trash.

We use an Airport Extreme that also has on the same extended network, and Airport Express, a Time Capsule, and Apple TV (which is usually in sleep mode).

Any suggestions?

I don't know if it's an OS update conflict or that we switched to Ethernet. I haven't seen any ethernet specific issues..so I wonder, since we update our system software frequently..if that could be the conflict.

Just purchased DropCopy full version from App store. No issue when transferring files, but how to get files into the corresponding App is a real problem.

Currently I can only transfer PDF and image files into other Apps. Other files such as Office document (.doc .xls .ppt), Text files (.rtf .htm), Archive files (.zip .rar) will appear in the "Docs" section, and I can't open these files into other App. The only option DropCopy offed to me is sending them back to my desktop or Email. That's unexceptable.

iPhone/iPad is now capable handling lots of file formats. We have Documents-to-Go for office files, we have iUnarchiver for zip/rar files, and we have the faithful GoodReader. The reason I bought this App is to transfer my documents into these Apps when I don't want to bother with USB cable. DropCopy can be the key, please don't let those users down who trusted in you.

I'm still interested if sending images via clipboard might be possible and - even more important to me - if the transfer protocol can be (freely) adopted.

Thanks again for the great software and support!

The device name in the 'Sharing' pref pane is set correctly, and other apps such as the Finder are listing the device correctly. Any ideas?

(First of all, the app works great on iPhone, iPad and Mac, you've done a really good job!)

When playing around with transferring photos from the iPhone (and also iPad) with Version 2.10 I came across these issues / questions:

1. In the "Images" section there is no option for saving the image (neither JPG nor PNG) to the Camera Roll, which was one of the main reasons for me to buy the app because I saw that option in the screenshots on this website. So, is there any possibility to save an image to the Camera Roll?

2. Is it possible send images through the clipboard? When copying an image to the clipboard on the iPhone/iPad and then send it to another DropCopy instance, just the file name is sent. It would be great if an image could be sent via clipboard, too.

3. Are there any (public) information about the protocol that DropCopy uses to communicate and transfer data? I would like to check if there is an easy way to implement a simple application for Windows.

Thanks in advance

Nils

Hi, thank you for sending me the 1.6.3 beta and sorry for that triple post (my answer wasn't displaying on the forum…).

I've tried the beta but the "problem" still remains. I realised we're talking about the behaviour as DropCopy 1.6.x seems intelligent because if I send a valid url, the "copy to clipboard" option isn't available. Maybe I should have explained that sometimes I want to be able to also "copy to clipboard" even for a valid url, for example a ftp download I want to paste in an email.

I can copy the url from the window, that's another option but I like to have the choice between "open in borwser" and "copy to clipboard".
