CrossWalk
CrossWalk aims to be the New Yorker’s swiss-army-knife. Feed it an address like “1337 Broadway” and it will produce the cross-street (approximately 35th st., btw). There’s also a scrollable subway map.
We’re sometimes asked why we can’t use the official subway map on CrossWalk. The map the MTA publishes is actually copyrighted and they legally pursue anyone who distributes it for free. See here or here. The MTA, of course, wants folks to license it for mucho dinero. The one we use is older and less likely to attract attention or ire but we think you’ll still find CrossWalk to be a handy on-the-go reference and look forward to adding some cool new features to make it even more useful.
